OPM sheet music no. 61: whew* ang haba ng title :) well, i've decided to finish this first in time for our former President Corazon "CORY" Aquino's funeral (that's why i'm still awake @6am) and there's no better way for me to say THANK YOU (for her undying love and compassion to our country, for giving back the freedom we enjoy and for making us proud to be pinoy!) than to share this music sheet (kasi for sure nde naman ako makakapunta sa roxas boulevard bukas este mamaya para abangan ang pagdaan ng funeral cortege ni madame cory... so eto nalang :p)
i'm pretty sure, lagi nyo itong naririnig ngayon, lalo na sa abs-cbn whenever they have updates on cory aquino but for the benefit of others na nde alam ang storya sa likod ng kantang ito eh ganito lang po yan...
ito po ay isang tula ni nilikha ng namayapang Benigno "NINOY" Aquino Jr. para sa kanyang asawa for their 19th anniversary. it's simply a poem that tells how her husband Ninoy love and adore her simplicity, while he serve for the nation her humble wife created a home for him.
according to the composer, Jose Mari Chan, he was approached by good friend Cecille Guidote Alvarez sometime in 1987 to put music to the poem. what he read was a beautiful and heartfelt tribute from a man to his wife that inspired him to compose its melody in a very short span of time.
a remake of this song will be recorded by christian bautista. so i'll wait for it's single then i'll post christian's version separately... o ayan pde na siguro ako matulog... :)

Mother Pilipinas weeps, her noble sons are gone,
Her land of the morning, is now of the setting sun,
Back to her dungeon in chains shes been returned;
For all her sacrifices, this is what she earned.
The night is cold and dark, there are no stars,
Our prisons are full, our souls wrinkled with scars,
Afflicted, persecuted, struck down but not crushed,
How soon will this blight be erased by Allahs brush?
My only escape is to cling to the woman of my dreams
